Millie Perkins played the role of Frances Mansfield, the wife of Oates' brother Randall.  In Willeford's script, Perkins was originally to have delivered a complaining line about her husband:  "Randy's such a snob.  He's never forgiven my father for being a dentist."

According to author Willeford, however, Perkins informed him that this line was cut from the script because both Monte Hellman (director) and Sam Gelfman (Roger Corman's co-producer) had relatives that were dentists.  Though Perkins and Donahue both urged the line be kept, director Hellman won the argument and the line was omitted.
