Warren Oates with his fighting rooster White Lightning.  Oates was happy to have the opportunity to come to Georgia to film Cockfighter as it gave him the opportunity to visit his ex-wife Teddy and their two children, who had recently relocated from Los Angeles to Atlanta.  According to Oates' biographer  Susan Compo, Teddy ended up getting a job at Turner Broadcasting.   Their kids, one girl and one boy, both attended the University of Georgia.

If you have any interest in Oates and his career, I highly urge you to check out his biography, Warren Oates:  A Wild Life, published in 2009 by University Press Of Kentucky.  I think I mentioned that elsewhere in this spread, but it probably bears repeating.
