When Cockfighter opened in the summer of 1974, it did passable business on the drive-in circuit but didn't attract enough ticket buyers from cities and suburban areas. This led Corman to cook up the less controversial Born To Kill title. As you can see, the Born To Kill poster is completely devoid of any references to cockfighting, but the attempt to turn around this film's fortunes did not succeed.
