When it opened in August 1959, the Lenox Square shopping center featured both a bowling alley and an indoor driving range.  Beginning in 1960, Lenox began hosting an annual Independence Day fireworks display, a tradition that's still going strong.  For more details on the history of this shopping center (now an indoor mall), check the Wikipedia page.
