Here's an aerial postcard showing the northwest section of downtown Atlanta as it appeared in approximately 1970.  I'm basing that estimated date on the fact that below the blue dome of the Polaris restaurant (closed in 2004) we can see the beginning stages of the construction of the Radius Tower section of John Portman's Hyatt Regency hotel.  The Radius Tower, opened in 1971 as the Ivy Tower, closely resembles another Portman project, the circular Westin Peachtree Plaza hotel, just a couple of blocks away.  The two buildings so closely resemble each other that the Radius Tower doubled for the Peachtree Plaza in a memorable free-fall stunt at the end of the movie Sharkey's Machine.  Thumbnails of many more aerial view postcards can be found here.
