The First United Methodist Church (that's the current name) can be found at 360 Peachtree Street, at the corner of Ralph McGill Boulevard (formerly Forrest Aveune). The church is one of the oldest in Atlanta, with roots going back to the late 1840s.  The building seen here, made with granite quarried from Stone Mountain, was completed in 1903, but the old church bell (1850) was kept.  In fact, the bell is thought to be the only church bell in Atlanta that survived the Civil War.  Date: 1946.  Photo courtesy of the Georgia State University Library Archives, file #LBGPF2-036a.               Google map
