The house seen below served as Georgia's Governor's Mansion from 1870 until 1921.  It was demolished in 1923 and the Grady Hotel was built on the site.  The Westin Peachtree Plaza hotel now stands on this ground.  (More information below).       Google map

  

This was the first Governor's Mansion located in Atlanta, but it was not the original Governor's Mansion.  That honor goes to a stately (and still standing) home in the town of Milledgeville, which served as Georgia's capitol city from 1804 to 1869.
