Model railroader Joseph L. Massey has spent a great deal of time working on modeling the Georgia railroad and downtown Atlanta's train infrastructure as it appeared in the early 1950s.  He mentions that these photos all show works in progress and are not necessarily intended to be 100% complete with regard to every minor detail.  Nevertheless, these are some tremendous likenesses and obviously represent a vast amount of time.

Here we're looking southeast from Union Station, past Forsyth Street and toward Broad Street.  The buildings below viaduct level are basically parts of Underground Atlanta, long before that entity existed.
