Date: March 24, 1979.  This photo was posted to Flickr.com by user Kenny42952, who was kind enough to allow me to include it here on the Atlanta Time Machine.  Perhaps the best part about the photo it offers such a superb view of the Frances Hotel, the wedge-shaped structure in the foreground.  When the building opened in 1898, it was the city's first luxury apartment house.  Like much of downtown, it had declined considerably by the late 1960s, and it deteriorated further in the 1970s.  It was demolished in 1988 and eventually "replaced" by the SunTrust Tower, a 60 story building completed in 1992.   Google map
