The links below will take you to vintage ads for various clubs and restaurants that operated in Atlanta Underground.   Most of the ads come from 1970, but one is from 1976.  Perhaps you're asking yourself: what, exactly, is Underground Atlanta?  Doug Monroe, a writer for Atlanta Magazine explained it this way: "The five-block area that includes Lower Alabama Street was a major part of early Downtown Atlanta, but it was located in a gulch where rail lines ran. In 1910, to deal with worsening traffic, iron bridges were built over the railroad tracks, abandoning the existing area, which ultimately became a dusty and forlorn roost for pigeons and rats. In 1968, the “city beneath the city” was given historic status. After a massive cleanup and renovation, Underground Atlanta opened as a retail and entertainment center in 1969."    His article on Underground Atlanta was published in the December 2006 issue of Atlanta.
