This 1964 photo shows the view looking south along West Peachtree Street toward its intersection with Peachtree Street on the north side of downtown.  Due to some rerouting, the two streets no longer directly intersect at that spot, which is now the site of the very compact Hardy Ivy Park.  Visible on the left in the lower photo is the Regency Hyatt hotel, which opened in 1967 three years after this picture was taken.  Incidentally, the blue-domed Polaris restaurant/lounge on the top of the hotel (now the Hyatt Regency) has been completely redesigned and is slated to reopen imminently (as of 06/01/14) after being closed for several years.
