This 1966 photo shows Buford Highway, positively buzzing with activity and snazzy signs, looking north toward its intersection with Chamblee Tucker Road.  The vintage photo appears here courtesy of the Atlanta Journal Constitution, who included it recently in a batch of photos examining Atlanta's roadways. 

Many thanks to Eric L. Watts for his scholarly work in determining the precise location of the photo and for visiting the spot where the original photographer stood to take an updated version, which can be seen below.  I don't want to spoil the surprise, but it looks pretty boring now, at least by comparison to what we see in the older photo.
