Here's a 1922 photo of a Buckhead house that served as the headquarters of the notorious Ku Klux Klan from 1922 until 1936.  The home was occupied by "imperial wizard" Hiram Wesley Evans, a Texas native who eventually ran short of cash and sold the property to an insurance company, which in turn sold it to the Catholic church.  This property is now home to the Cathedral Of Christ The King church, which opened in 1939 and can be seen here.

The original address for this property was 1480 Peachtree Street, but in 1926 many of Atlanta's street addresses were renumbered and the current address is 2699 Peachtree St. NE.      Google map

As mentioned in The Fiery Cross: The Ku Klux Klan in America (by Wyn Craig Wade), Bishop Gerald O'Hara of the Savannah-Atlanta archdiocese invited Evans to the dedication ceremonies at the church's opening and Evans happily accepted.  Weird.
