1050 Techwood Drive.  This building was formerly the Progressive Club.

Date:  1943

The Progressive Club was a Jewish social organization that was established in 1913 by Russian Jews who felt unwelcome at the Standard Club, where German Jews were predominant.  Now it's one of several buildings that collectively serve as the headquarters for the Turner Entertainment Networks.  Looking at these 2 photos it seems as if beyond some landscaping not that much has changed at this location.  Looking at the next photos, though, gives a very different perspective.

1050 Techwood Drive

Date:  01/15/04

This is the building from which Ted Turner began his career as a serious media mogul. It was already the home to his nationwide superstation (TBS) when CNN was launched on June 1, 1980 (by bojan milic).   In the summer of 1987, CNN moved into the brand new CNN Center at the corner of Marietta Street and Techwood Drive in the heart of downtown Atlanta..  In 1980, however, when CNN came to life Turner was a constant presence in this building and when he returned for the dedication of a Hollywood Boulevard-style sidewalk star on 04/27/04, he fondly recalled the days when he lived in an apartment at the far end of the second story of this building.
