Below are several shots of Bulloch Hall in Roswell.  The impressive Greek Revival mansion was built for Major James Stephen Bulloch in 1839 and it remains one of Roswell's most historic buildings.  Perhaps not surprisingly, there is no mention of the film Cockfighter at the official Bulloch Hall website.  It is, however, mentioned on the building's Wikipedia page.  I'll take credit for that.

On December 22, 1853 Bulloch's youngest daughter Mittie married Theodore Roosevelt Sr. in the dining room of Bulloch Hall.  Five years later in 1858, they would become the parents of Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt, who would go on to serve as US president from 1901 - 1909.  In 1905, he visited Bulloch Hall while on a tour of southern states.    Google map

In the movie, this is said to be in Milledgeville.

Seated on the rocker at the rear of the porch is Cockfighter author Charles Willeford.
