The postcard below shows the view looking west toward downtown from an overpass above Atlanta's new expressway, usually referred to as the Downtown Connector these days.  My original belief that the picture was taken right in front of the present site of the 1956 Grady Hospital building proved to be a bit off the mark.  Thanks to reader Tom G. for pointing that out.   Turns out that the picture was actually taken from the Decatur Street overpass, probably at some point in the early 1960s.
