This postcard depicts an artist's rendering of a possible sweeping redesign of the streetscape in front on the Georgia State Capitol building.  The "half million" population figure touted here corresponds with metro Atlanta population figures from 1910, when the area had a population of  522,422.  Atlanta's official population in 1910 was a little over 154,000 but that figure reflects only the number of people residing within the city limits, which were much smaller then.  In 1952, the city of Atlanta annexed an additional 82 square miles and in doing so added 100,000 residents overnight.
