Perhaps the most surprising thing about comparing these 2 photos is seeing the area that is now the Buckhead Triangle Park (which is directly behind the gray SUV  in the 2004 photo) was commercially developed property in the 1950's.  The park was created between 1973 and 1975 with a grant from Coke bigwig Robert Woodruff.

According to this Buckhead oriented website, designers are exploring the idea of extending the park to the east, across Peachtree Street and converting some commercial space to park space and rerouting Peachtree Road either to the east of the expanded park or through a tunnel beneath the park!
