As previously noted, this is the original Waffle House restaurant, opened Labor Day, 1955. According to records in the City Directory collection at the downtown Decatur library, it remained open approximately 17 years. The 1972 Directory shows a listing for a Waffle House at 2719 East College Avenue but by 1973, a business called Quick and Tasty Foods was operating here.
