Sometime in the late 1950's, though I am sure precisely when, the greater Atlanta metropolitan area surpassed the 1,000,000 mark in population.  Hitting a million residents was considered to be a very big deal and so a postcard was soon issued proclaiming Atlanta's status as the first city in the south to reach this particular milestone figure.  Thumbnails of many more aerial view postcards can be found here.
