The marker in the photo on the right commemorates the First Tree Planted In Downtown Atlanta By The Women's Chamber Of Commerce on June 3, 1964.

The tree and the marker are on Edgewood Boulevard just a few yards to the east of Five Points in the heart of downtown Atlanta.

Looking at the majority of the vintage photos of downtown street scenes on this website, one sees very few trees.  By contrast, downtown Atlanta now has a plentiful number of trees almost everywhere one looks.
