Below is a postcard from 1905 or so (I'm guessing) which shows the General John B. Gordon, a Confederate general in the Civil War.  Following the war, Gordon served as Georgia's governor from 1886 - 1890 and represented the state in the U.S. Senate from 1981 - 1897.  Gordon Street (now Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard) was named after him.
