Life Of Georgia company, 1950

Seen in this 1950 photograph is a building officially known as the Industrial Life & Health Insurance Company building, which was completed in 1930. In 1947, the company changed its name to Life Of Georgia. Eighteen years after this photograph was taken, the company moved across the street and one block north to the Life Of Georgia building, which can be seen here.

Emory Crawford Long Hospital, the current owner of the building, was moving forward with plans to demolish the building 3 or 4 years ago, but it's still there, so perhaps they reconsidered or failed to get permission to tear it down. Or perhaps events are simply transpiring very slowly. In any event, here's an online petition to stop the demolition. Google map
