Druid Hills Baptist Church

The postcard below shows the Druid Hills Baptist Church, which was established in 1914 at 1085 Ponce de Leon Avenue NE, where Highland Avenue and Ponce intersect. This particular intersection has seen very few changes in the last 70 years. The church sits on the southeast corner of the intersection and just across Highland at the southwest corner is the small neighborhood strip center that features the art deco Plaza Theatre, which opened in 1939. And directly across Ponce at the northwest corner is the former Briarcliff Hotel which opened in 1925 as a luxury apartment building. It was converted to a hotel a few years later and now serves as housing for senior citizens. Google map
