BACK TO GRAHAM JACKSON THUMBNAILS

This LP, recorded by Graham Jackson live at Pittypat's Porch,  featured a wealth of Civil War era southern-themed music.  Given the fact that Graham Jackson was a distinguished black musician, the presence on his album of the 3 Confederate heroes (Davis, Lee, and Jackson) and the Confederate battle flag is, to put it mildly, a bit jarring at least by today's standards.  What to make of this I have no idea, beyond the assumption that the man was trying to feed a family.

In the liner notes for the LP, Jackson says of the album, "I'm not trying to tell the story of the Battle of Atlanta in facts, I'm trying to tell it the way I hear it: emotionally"

Selections include:

The Battle of Atlanta

The Battle Hymn of the Republic

The Bonnie Blue Flag

Dixie's Land

Virginia Marseillaise

Jubilo

Marching Through Georgia

Taps

Lorena

Tenting Tenting

Maryland

Wait For The Wagon Lorena

When Johnny Comes Marching Home

Old Abe Lincoln
