Lake Spivey, located about a mile directly east of downtown Jonesboro in Clayton County, was once a popular recreation area open to the general public.  As the Lake Spivey Civic Association explains, the 500 acre lake was created in the late 1940s when private property owners Dr. Walter and Emily Spivey dammed up a creek on their land.  Following Dr. Spivey's death in 1984, Mrs. Spivey deeded the land to the Lake Spivey Civic Association for the exclusive use of LSCA property owners.     Google map
